Black SeaBass
Black Seabass is considered to be one of the finest fish in the sea. Its sweet flakey firm flesh is considered by many to be the best eating fish in the northeast and in the springtime there is no better place to catch them than Vineyard Sound and Buzzards Bay. They generally show up in the middle of May and can be caught most of the summer and fall; however, late May is when you see the biggest “purple-heads” in these waters. While average size is generally from 3/4-2 lbs, many are caught in the 3-6lbs range every day.
A hi-lo rig tipped with a strip of squidis the standard rig for black seabass; however, recently many people have been going to the new Lucanus Jigs curso de colorista. In the spring people travel from all over the mid-Atlantic states just to fish this world class fishery, and no matter what tackle you use, you are guaranteed to have a great day of fishing with non-stop action!
